This systematic review and network meta-analysis was designed to rank the effects of diverse types of soluble dietary fibers.
It was on November 20, 2022, that our final systematic search occurred. Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCTs) examined the impact of soluble dietary fiber intake in adult type 2 diabetes patients, contrasting it with other dietary fiber types or no fiber consumption. A selection of experimental approaches, termed single-case designs, can be used to assess the efficiency of interventions by examining a limited number of patients or individual cases. To complement traditional group-based research methodologies, this article provides an overview of single-case experimental designs for rehabilitation research, particularly focusing on rare cases and interventions with unknown efficacy. We delve into the core concepts of single-case experimental designs and their diverse subtypes: N-of-1 randomized controlled trials, withdrawal designs, multiple-baseline designs, multiple-treatment designs, changing criterion/intensity designs, and alternating treatment designs. A discussion of the benefits and drawbacks of every subtype is presented, alongside the hurdles encountered in data analysis and its interpretation. The use of single-case experimental design results within the context of evidence-based practice is examined, including the pertinent criteria and potential limitations for interpretation. The recommendations provided address the appraisal of single-case experimental design articles and the practical implementation of single-case experimental design principles for better real-world clinical assessment.

MCID utilization is experiencing a surge in application, allowing for a more accurate evaluation of treatment efficacy, the definition of treatment guidelines, and the interpretation of trial results. However, the different computational methods continue to exhibit a substantial degree of heterogeneity.

Data on 312 knee osteoarthritis patients treated with intra-articular platelet-rich plasma, sourced from a database, formed the basis for the investigation into various MCID calculation methodologies. To determine MCID values, the International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) subjective score at six months was analyzed using two methodologies. Nine methods employed an anchor-based approach, whereas eight used a distribution-based methodology. Applying pre-determined threshold values derived from various MCID methods to the same patient population, the study investigated the influence of different MCID approaches on patient treatment responses.
Employing diverse methods yielded MCID values spanning a range from 18 to 259 points. Across the anchor-based methods, MCID values ranged from 63 to 259 points, exhibiting considerable variability. Conversely, distribution-based methods showed a more confined range, from 18 to 138 points. This translated to a 41-point variation in anchor-based methods and a 76-point variation in the distribution-based methods. The percentage of patients attaining the MCID for the IKDC subjective score varied according to the chosen computational methodology.
